Martins Creek places a strong emphasis on Missions and Outreach. Over 1/4 of our annual budget goes toward local and global ministries. Some of the ministries we support and help facilitate are listed below.
Homes of Hope A Transitional Housing Ministry
Martins Creek is in the process of raising funds to purchase a house that can be used for Transitional Housing in Holmes County. This ministry provides temporary housing to individuals/families who may be homeless or going through a financial crisis, so they can transition to a place of financial stability. While staying in this home, they will be connected with a Love INC mentor who will meet weekly with them, setting financial goals that will help get them back on their feet again.
This ministry is a Love INC ministry and will draw in the support of various churches and individuals in Holmes County. The goal is to provide multiple homes throughout the county, and involve multiple churches. For more information, or if you would like to give toward this amazing initiative to fight poverty, please contact Jay Conn at email@example.com
Fresh Start is a Love INC ministry hosted at Martins Creek. Trained individuals from Love INC walk along side of individuals/families in the community weekly as they set goals, and take needed steps to get out of a financial crisis. Classes will be offered that help tackle issues that burden families, as well as a Faith and Finance Course that will be offered seasonally for 12 weeks. Childcare is provided. For more information about participating or volunteering for this ministry, contact the Love INC office at 330.473.6017 and ask to talk with Vicki.
When Mongolia opened its doors to the world in 1990, there were reportedly five Christians there. Workers were first sent in 1993 to serve with the newly formed Joint Christian Services International. Since then the number of Christians in Mongolia has grown to over 55,000.
Through Mennonite Mission Network, a partnership of churches and individuals in eastern Ohio, including Martins Creek, has supported missionaries in Mongolia for the past 26 years. Annual mission visits to Mongolia are a part of this partnership.
Workers are involved in ministries of theological education, relief, micro-enterprise, community development, and English teaching.

Lynn & Sharon Kandel
Lynn and Sharon Kandel, members of Martins Creek, sensed a call to return to the mission fields of Africa in 2014. They pursued this call and it led them to the South Sudan where Lynn works in logistical support, helping to provide accommodations, water, and electricity for mission co-workers serving in extremely challenging conditions of South Sudan. Sharon works with a project that seeks to increase access to a basic, effective Christian education for children in the targeted areas of Jonglei and Upper Nile States. Love INC of Greater Holmes County
To mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities in the name of Christ
Love In the Name of Christ connects families in need to local church ministries, volunteers and community agencies. Love INC of GHC opened in November of 2014 and began taking phone requests. As Love INC phone volunteers listen and allow the need and the story to unfold, the prayer is that Love INC can surround the family and connect them to resources that will provide hope in a difficult time.
Ways that volunteers from Martins Creek have served through Love INC include being a phone intake volunteer or a budget coach, donating and delivering firewood, delivering furniture, moving families, donating toiletry items, household products, cleaning supplies and other products, providing babysitting, donating funds, baking and helping with refreshments at Love INC events and more. Martins Creek joins about 30 other local churches in being the hands and feet of Jesus to families here in Holmes County!
